Stubborn Love

Hey everyone so its going to be the end of the month and I have not posted and off things on this blog in a long time. I also haven't been anything costume related in the longest time which is just sad to think about. Especially when I only have 77 days left before Super Mega Fest and Rhode Island Comic Con come around. I really hope to have scorpion done in the next week and then the only thing I have to worry about a thing for the contacts. So that leaves me plenty of time to help my friend with her Sub Zero. And all the other costumes that I want to make Haha. So here a few pictures and hopefully I'll have more later on today.

It is slowly getting there and I really really want it to be done, I jsut need to work on the belts, pants and boots. Fingers crossed  I can find something cheap for the shoes, I don't want to spend to much money on this.

Set me Free

Updates on the bracers!! Look cool right? there is some bowing with the weight of the buckles (not to bad) but it is noticeable. I'm not to worried about it though, I think they look good.

Have a sewing party with some good friends on Wednesday and I had a ball. I have two of the great people on this planet by myside and I was on top of the world. You guys mean so much to me! <3

This outfit is coming along pretty awesome and I can not wait to order my contacts!! AH it is going to look so cool!!!  I love sewing parties!

Final Hope

Hey everyone! So I recently joined Cosplay Amino app and I have to say it is kind of amazing. This community has every tutorial I'd ever need at my finger tips. For green horns to pros, they have anything and I love it. It isn't at all what I thought it was going to be and THEY HAVE A RHODE ISLAND cosplay CHAT BOARD! EXCITEMENT!

So follow/watch/ like my stuff if you want and hopefully people from that site will come here and see more of my work. *fingers crossed*

Right, back to work. UPDATES::::

Everything still needs to be weathered but the collar is finally attached to the shoulder armor, I almost wish I didn't put so much work into the shoulder bells because now their all covered up for the most part.... oh well.

The hood came out awesome, one shot too. Normally I'd need to fit but not this time round. Needs to be weathered also and I put a center seam.... when in the video game he doesn't have one buuut oh well. My bad.

More updates tomorrow.

The Imaging

Hey everyone! I've been super busy with new costuming things and I am so excited at the progress so far! I've also get a few countdowns going now for RIcomic Con and Super Mega Fest both of which are in November so coming soooon. To soon.

Alistaurs updates back and breat plate are done.

So many soda cans.....so much hot glue.
Right so all I need to do for Alistair is the strapping for the waist armor and attaching the back plate to the breast plate. Also the shoulder armor needs to be worked on but I run out for thick brown foam. So that is put on pause for a moment.

I was also talking with a friend and she/ I agreed that we'd be getting a costuming pair for Super Mega Fest (SMF) this year and I totally forgot about it till I saw her the other day. SO that get bumped up the list because there are 101 days till SMF and I want us to look good. I've also put myself on work out scheule.

I know, I know. I'm the worst at sticky to these but I want my arms to look for this costume.

That is right Scorpion baby!

Sub Zero and Scorpion
And NO we are not doing sexy, female versions of these characters we are dressing as men. Binders will be worn, makeup will be put on , I will be carrying around a speaker with their voices recorded with catch phrases. SUPER EXCITED!

Craft foam pinned together for the collar

the frooont

Weathered, Heat sealed, Mod podged sealed, glued

collar isnt attached the the tunic yeet

needs some black weathering.
So that is after a day and a half of work, I didn't leave my craft room once I got home from work yesterday and today is no better, plus its raining so I don't want to leave the house today. Contacts have been found and with my prescription with is awesome! I'll be picking those up with my next pay check, I'm trying to make this as cheeap as possible. So far so good. The contacts are the expensive bit.

I will be helping my friend with her Sub-Zero costume in the next few weeks, I am excited. I can't say it enough.

Where civilization once lay

As promised some photo from yesterdays event with the ODSTs.

Globus

Hey everyone! Last night I finally saw Ant Man at the drive in and I have to say it was wicked funny! I enjoyed that movie more than I thought I was going to, there were some serious scenes and then Paul Rudd just made them even better with the lightheartedness. Much needed funny super hero movie with nothing to do with saving the world.. well it kinda of does but meh.

We went to our local Rustic Drive In , they were doing some promotional stuff for Rhode Island Comic Con and there was a costume contest. So we went of course. I've never enter a costume contest solo before and it was nothing special there was no line up or anything just the judges were watching us as we walked around.  It was nice to see the younger anime fans out and about, should have worn Sakura Haruno instead. lol Na I geared up and up on my Warden for the first time and it went over well. No on knew what or who I was but that is okay, nothing broke and I can see function in the costume. All and all it was a good field test, Oh and none of us won. Lame I know.

I'm posted some pictures when I get them from a friend.

-----
On other news I've been a busy little bee when it came to the boyfriends costume. I've been trying to push myself into getting one piece of armor done a day. And so far so good its only been a week and the waist armor is built. Everything still needs to be strapped together but its built.  Not sure when we want this outfit done for, I'm thinking maybe for October or November. Who knows maybe I can get him to wear it to Rhode Island Comic Con. Probably not tho, he'll want to do his ODST.

Swooping is bad

soda cans! CLEAN SODA CANS!
made template of the right size and cut out

This is Patina stains metal real good, great for weathering.

Right so we started working on a new costume for the boyfriend, what two days ago and I'm happy with the progress we are making. So with this project I get to use the soda cans (which I LOVE) it is such a cheap and easy way to add the metal plates to the armor.

All the armor has a cardboard base because cardboard is free and we are working off of a tight budget. Brown craft foam then has been weathered to look like leather (using the tin foil technique)  and then I glued on each metal plate and added the fake rivet marks.

Right now we have all the waist armor done it just needs to be strapped up and fitted, also need to go purchase some cheapo belts from savers for this outfit.
