I'm your man

Alrighty than, so this was the first test fit we did and there are some problems, because nothing I make can go smoothly BUT this is why we do these tests! The shoulder armor isn't staying up and we have attached a strap to the chest amor, I am going to sewing some Velcro to the shirt to make it more stable. The waist armor fits but in the photo we didn't more the sides over his thighs enough.

The bracers are my favortie part of this outfit, I also need to get another belt and finish his knee and elbow armor. But we are almost done. SO CLOSE!

Wake me up when September ends

I am so sorry, it seems I have been neglecting my blog... again. But fear not for I have been hard at work and taking lots and lots of photos!

And away we go!

Alistair's boot in the sun light

Okay so this chest plate is the beginning of Fenris from Dragon Age 2. There is no due date on this costume, I kinda started it just to keep busy while I waited on other things to happen. PLUS I have a TON of EVA foam hanging around the craft room.

Right on the next set of photos. Alistair's chaps. If you ask any of my sewing friends they will tell how much I hate making pants and now I don't have a lot of experience in making which leads to my hatred. But I picked up two pants at SAVERS and them Frankenstein-ed them together. Which turned out pretty good, for the gray top pants I wanted to add some texture to them so I drew on some quick "chain mail". Also added the eyelets to the brown "leather" chaps.

Return to the Darkness

I've also been working on Alistair today too. So here are some of those WIP photos.

Right so I have just about all the armor pieces make and really to have straps attached. I got the boot armor all set, you can see from the photo we did a test run. The Bracers are not the same design from the video game reference that I am using for the rest but I am happy with the way the "wood grain" came out. Those still need to be weathered but I think I got a lot done today.

Boot armor -2x (attached)
Foot Amor- 2x (attached)
Bracers - 2x
Armor arm bands- 2x

Pretty good for a days work. Still need to purchase a few things too.

Pants - Grey and brown (need to make chaps)
Belts- need two of them
Gloves- fingerless (also need to add small armor plate)
Boot cover - the armor plate has another smaller piece that sits on top of it
Arm / Leg / Boot  bands - 6x

There is still a ton to do and we are slowly getting closer and closer to RI Comic Con.

Bite my shiny metal ass

Everyone, so they're going to few updates that have been posting and I have a ton of photos of work in progress on Sub Zero and on Alistair. So this is pretty much a photo dump post and some tutorial pictures that I took.

My friends and I are hoping to go to Hartford Connecticut Comic Con this Saturday and I'll probably be wearing the warden so I'll get some nice pictures of that, finally.

Also in real life I actually got a promotion this week and I'm now the bakery manager which is a good thing and a bad thing. More money and more responsibility but I'll be spending a lot more time in the bakery and not as much time costuming and probably not going to as many conventions as I'd like to because I have to work weekends. But it'll all work out in the end.

Here are the photos for Sub-Zero's Bracers and Arm bands for my firend. SUPER excited with how they came out. It's all craft foam, scupley and hot glue.

We also found an old Batman chest plate that of friend, Mark made. It is one of his first pieces of foam armor so Courtney and I thought it would be have a little fun! <3 Mark wasn't to happy buuut he got over it.
