Afire Love

This month has been pretty good, I mean somethings didn't go as planned but stuff happens and sometimes things just can't work out. But I do try to enjoy my small wins. My friend and I have started working on our Attack on Titan cosplays, which I posted those photos the other day. Well on Tuesday we will be doing a test run with makeup and wigs, everything Erwin and Levi are FINALLY HAPPENING! OH I also got around the reading "A Choice with no regrets" and holy cow the back of the manga read like a trashy love novel, if that doesn't make Levi and Erwin canon I don't know what will. haha. I want super excited to wear these costumes, Anime Boston can not come fast enough (and I forgot to pre-reg again/FUCK/) its going to be hard not to smile while I'm Levi. We have all these shippy crap we gonna do at AB. I CAN NOT CONTAIN MYSELF! I'm in love with these old men and sappy love for each other. Sorry ,,,, oh what no I'm not! mahaha!

 end rant.

Lomo Saltado - Season 2 -

Lomo Saltado

Will used “Long pork” for this. Peruvians use beef. You can substitute chicken strips or Portobello mushrooms for the beef in this recipe.

For four portions served over steamed rice

12 oz sirloin steak cut in strips ¼ “ x ¼ “ x 2 “
3 Tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp Worchestershire sauce
1 to 2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tsp grated fresh ginger, optional
½ tsp crushed cumin seeds, optional
3 Tbsp oil
½ red onion, sliced
2 plum tomatoes, in thin wedges
1 Tbsp aji sauce or other hot pepper sauce
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup frozen spicy French fried potatoes
2 – 3 sprigs cilantro, chopped

1. In a small bowl, mix steak strips, vinegar, soy, Worchestershire. garlic, ginger and cumin. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

2. Heat Spicy Fries in oven as per instructions on the bag. Keep warm in oven.

3. In a large frying pan or wok over high, heat pan til very hot. Add 1 Tbsp oil and onions. Stir-fry on high heat until onion slices have browned in places and are turning translucent. Do not overcook – they should still be slightly crisp. Return pan to heat and add 1 Tbsp oil and half of the beef slices. Do not crowd the pan or meat will not brown. Stir-fry for 2 – 4 minutes or until meat has browned but still medium-rare. Add meat to bowl of fried onions and repeat with remaining oil and beef.  With a paper towel, wipe pan clean of juices. Repeat with oil and meat. Add tomatoes and aji sauce to hot pan and stir-fry until skin starts to peel away and tomatoes start to release their juices. Add beef and onions back into the pan and mix well until heated through. Add hot French fries and toss until everything is well coated with the juices. Add salt and pepper to taste.

4. Serve over steamed rice. Sprinkle with cilantro.

please please please, for the love of all that is holy in this world go this this amazing website and enjoy all the goodies.

Now I suppose this post needs some explaining since I've never fully blogged about the food I've made before. But this can be a Valentine's day special. My boyfriend and I have always been smitten with Hannibal Lecter, from the books to the movies... so you can only imagine our delicate when we heard his story was being turned into a TV series. Every Valentine's Day for the past five years I have shared with my beloved and together we cook and watch something Hannibal related, this year being no different we found the food blog for the show (shocked we hadn't seen it before, being  the foodies that we are) so naturally we picked a recipe from the new season and together we made something beautiful.

I have always enjoy cooking, I find it relaxing and I am most comfortable when in a kitchen. ( I'm sure it has something to do with my family and mother always sitting around in the kitchen together growing up). Having Justin the kitchen with me feeling right, I take great comfort with him by my side.

I tell my co-workers what we do on Valentine's day when they ask, I don't want to be rude (ha) and normally I get a funny look and then a "aww". Yeah I know we're strange. But we are strange together and I wouldn't have it any other way.
