Uuupdates!

Hey everyone sorry for again not posting anything I've kind of been leading away from this blog and focusing more on my social media Outlets. But I've been kind of forgetting to come back here and post along with all my other posts so I do apologize. I did finish Hawke from Dragon Age and I will update the costume list with photos. I've started another costume also from Dragon Age. I think you guys are getting the hinge that I really like Dragon Age. I enjoy a lot of the characters and the costume design is really well done.

On a personal note my new job is going very well it's long hours and hard work but it's definitely worth it and I'm in a better place than I ever was.

Hey everyone so again sorry for no updates. A lot of thing going on since May and I've been super busy with interviews and kind of getting my life back on track. I did take the whole summer off from working that doesn't include costumes have been working on costumes. Just trying to get things organized.

A new beginning

                   I have had this blog for a few years now and it went from being my personal blog to my hobby/portfolio for work. If I were to go back and read some of the older posts about my 'job' it will most likely not be good. The one good thing I can say is that my fellow coworkers are the ones I will miss, I had been working for this company for just shy of ten years. People have come and gone but I've ended up many friends for life through this company.  If you haven't picked up on it yet, I have quit.
            I quit for many reasons and it is a great thing that I can close this chapter in my life but still there is that cold, bone crushing fear of what now? 
            Keeping my head up high and brush the dust off my resume. I am very thankful for my husband, family and friends. They understand why this was needed and why I feel the conflicted emotions that I have. I do believe one friend put it best "its like getting out of an abusive relationship, you think you've done something wrong when in reality you've done the best thing in your life."
           She is right. Its been not even a week and I feel better. Still nervous on the idea I do not have income coming in right now. BUT that is why the job hunt is so important.
          This as been a long time coming. Finally.


       On a lighter note the support I've been getting is hard to must into words. And not just from friends and family but coworkers (ex coworkers now) even people who have left the company years ago are finding out and are so happy for me.

      I am happy that I got the opportunity to learn, I'd tell my girls all the time, "Its not a mistake IF you learn something from it."  I feel that I have learned a lot.

   So I promise there will be cake updates and costume updates too!

So already gone back on my word about posting a lot. I have not posted all last month and its February 2nd. It's funny because I plan on doing the post and updating some of the costumes and then I forget or I start another project and I just don't remember to go back to the blog.

It's been a rough month, I have been having a hard time at work of late and I'm kind of at the point where something has to change. Whether it's me or I move on to something different. I've been getting so much anxiety by just pulling into the parking lot never mind walking through the doors. It's not good for me and certainly not good for everyone else. Tho I think I have come to terms with the fact that I'm probably the week manager, and I'm not sure if I can fix that.

So I have been talking to some friends about future endeavors and everyone seems to be pretty excited so I'm going to put my best foot forward and start slash keep planning those endeavors

When it comes down to it I can't really change how people at work think of me and I don't think I'm going to try. Whether it's good or bad I'm going to let it lie. Maybe withdraw myself from certain people that I think are the problems.

Well there's my many rent for the month I'm going to post again and updates in costume and stuff and Anime Boston plans but there's my emotional rant

Happy new year

 Happy New Year. It comes in at a time that I will get back on this blog and realize that I have ignored it for a good portion of this year. And my goal was to always post more than the previous year and I pretty much flopped to that.

So hopefully in this coming month I'm going to post more about just about anything from costumes to be going to my life. So it should be fun

Resistance scum

Dyeing is a new thing!

 hey everyone so just a quick update I'm just going to post a bunch of photos from the costumes I've been working on not in any particular order. But I know there are some from Nessa we went to Halloween party there's some of Lagertha and I've been working on the resistance pilot outfit.

The resistance pilot costume has been kind of a challenge. I've been going off the reference photos from a very detailed picture of 4 pilots. And I'm kind of winging it I don't know if this will be a provable from the rebel Legion or what but I think it's coming out pretty cool. I have learned how to dye polyester and I'm getting pretty good at dyeing cotton. I had a jumpsuit that was orange and I didn't want to buy a new one so I reused this one it was just the wrong color of orange. Interstellar Orange apparently is a thing I don't know if that's an actual color but Star Wars has made it one.

Guess who's back, back again.

Hey everyone I haven't posted in a very long time and I apologize for that. September was a busy month with the bakery and was also trying to get some costume stuff done and then my sister had her baby and October. Little Charlie we're very excited the whole family's been super thrilled with this baby and life has just changed a little bit again for us. October is another fun Monday through us because it's Halloween and we get to decorate the house and playing all the spooky stuff for the kids that come trick-or-treating we were also invited to some parties so we want to all those. Hahaha.

It's also an emotional month my dad love Halloween love Halloween. And this is the first year we didn't carve pumpkins together, the first year I didn't get a phone call on Halloween from him. Just weird not having him around I know it's kind of cliché to say but you really do miss the little things.

On a positive note my brother is in Haiti right now helping out with his church. Haven't talked to him in a week which is weird but he doesn't have any service down there. He comes home on Monday and I'm super excited.

One of the parties you want to our friends Chris and his wife are huge Halloween and they do a really big haunt every year. And they've inspired us to try and do one next year maybe not as big as theirs but definitely bigger than what we've done. I'm looking forward to building some of the larger props for next year. Halloween is always been my family's favorite holiday and maybe in honor of my dad will try to do the haunt every year. Maybe work something out with doing the Food donation Bend or something in his memory.

I have been on vacation this week and I've been spending time with my sister and the baby but I've also been working on costumes. Rhode Island Comic Con is right around the corner and I know everyone's prepping for that. I'm not they doing any new costumes so I am bringing Nessa from Arrow we wore our Arrow costumes the other day to a party. It went over pretty well I still need a bow though.

Again I am sorry that I haven't been posting it's very much unlike me I would like to have more posted last year and so forth. So I might go to posting frenzy this month.

Not all bad

Hey everyone so again I've been really bad at staying up with posting and showing work in progress updates. So here is going to be another photo dump of everything I've been working on for the past 3 weeks and I think I'm going to be updating the cake page 2. We did a few new things in the bakery so that needs to be updated.

There are also some new costume plans in the works with some lady friends of mine that I'm pretty excited to start. It's been a pretty crazy month in the bakery so I've been busy and my sister's baby shower was also over this weekend.

Inquisitor

Hey everyone I have an update in awhile with actual words. Only pictures. But finish is almost done I'm just waiting on some leggings and some clear sandals and then I think we're going to do the nosepiece again and do a test fit sometime next week.

We didn't go to Boston Comic Con that was over the weekend way too hot and thought we'd save some money by not killing ourselves in the heat.

I started working with foam again I decided that I was going to try to make a helmet. The helmet from Dragon Age Inquisition the inquisitors helmet I got a free pattern off of the Evil Ted Smith Channel on YouTube. You should go check them out if you're going to start working with foam. He really knows his stuff and he's a good teacher watch all those videos over and over again

It was pretty hard again I don't have a lot of experience working with phone never mind making a dome shape so it was kind of a trial-and-error a lot of failure but I like the way that only come out in the end it's not perfect butt it works

I wasn't really planning on doing anything else with the helmet other than just make it just to see if I could but then I start looking online and I saw a lot of people doing Inquisitor armor and I found one that I really like from the guy had really good pictures of how we made it so I'm going to go ahead and make an Inquisitor costume. So get ready for that

Fenris WIP

The last day of relaxation

Hey everyone. I've been on vacation this whole week and I haven't got a whole lot done with costuming. I have been working on Fenris and I need to make a cape 4 Thor but that isn't due till the 12th of August

We went to a wedding over the past weekend my mother-in-law got married and hopefully I have some pictures soon just short on my dress but I only have a silly photo that I took in the mirror sums up my personality pretty well.
